The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) is a vital link between home and school, working collaboratively to enhance the educational experience of our students. By organizing events, fundraisers, and meetings, the PTA fosters open communication and cooperation, ensuring that every student receives the best possible education in a nurturing environment.
Past Pupils’ Association
The Past Pupils’ Association was founded on the 3rd of March, 1985. On this day, the first Annual General Meeting was held and Ms. Nirmala Rayen was appointed the first President of the Association.
The Association was instituted with the main aim of aiding the Alma Mater, in union with the Rev. Sister Principal, Rev. Sister Superior and the present students, whilst fostering social relationships and fellowship among the past pupils of the school, keeping in mind the rich traditions, values and ideals taught within the school and that is embodied in the Motto of the Association.
The Past Pupils’ Association of St. Lawrence’s Convent has played a vital role in strengthening the bond between former students and the School community. Over the years the association has contributed immensely to the growth and development of the School, while promoting fellowship, unity and love among its members.
The association has also been actively involved in scholarship and welfare programs. Financial assistance has been provided to deserving students who face economic difficulties, enabling them to continue their education without interruption. In addition, the association has organized educational seminars, career guidance programs, and mentorship opportunities over the years, to help students achieve their academic and professional goals.
Another significant achievement of the association is its contribution during times of need. Whether responding to emergencies, supporting the community, or assisting School during special events, the association has consistently demonstrated generosity and commitment to service.
The association has further strengthened the spirit of unity among past pupils by organizing annual gatherings, sports events, and social activities. These events have helped maintain lifelong friendships while encouraging former students to remain connected to their Alma Mater. The associations show of strength expands beyond Sri Lanka with alumni’s in both Australia and Dubai.
The accomplishments of the Past Pupils’ Association stand as a testament to the dedication, loyalty and generosity of its members. Parent’s and Teachers Association

As St. Lawrence’s Convent celebrates 125 years of academic excellence, we take pride in acknowledging the vital role played by the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). Established in 1971, the PTA has been a steadfast supporter of the school’s mission, contributing to the development of its most important stakeholders—the students.
The inaugural General Meeting of the PTA was held on the 26th of January 1971, marking the beginning of a collaborative journey between parents and teachers. Since its inception, the PTA has been instrumental in fostering a partnership that nurtures both academic and personal growth in students.
Fundraising has always been at the heart of the PTA’s contributions. Over the years, the PTA has played a crucial role in constructing key facilities such as the primary section building, the pavilion, and the Advanced Level section building. Their efforts have supported vital
infrastructural developments that continue to benefit generations of students. From upgrading laboratories to launching new projects like the upcoming science lab enhancement, the PTA’s initiatives provide students with opportunities to explore, learn, and excel.
The PTA also plays an active role in organizing and supporting school events such as the annual sports meet and the prize-giving ceremony, ensuring their smooth execution and success. Additionally, the association has extended its contributions beyond academics by organizing seminars and stress management workshops for students and parents, addressing important aspects of education and well-being.
Reflecting on its rich history, the PTA has been part of significant milestones in the school’s journey. From supporting the celebration of the school’s Silver Jubilee in 1976 to contributing to the elevation of the school to a fully-fledged senior secondary school with Advanced Level classes in 1986, their involvement has been pivotal in shaping St. Lawrence’s into the institution it is today.
As we mark this special 125th jubilee, the PTA is spearheading impactful initiatives for future generations. These include supporting the school’s participation in prestigious events like the Shakespeare drama competition, offering students a platform to showcase their creativity and talents.
Looking ahead, the PTA remains committed to enriching the school community by fostering an environment where parents and teachers collaborate in unity and service for the betterment of all students.
With love, care, and a spirit of collaboration, the PTA of St. Lawrence’s Convent continues to uplift students, inspiring them to lead lives of purpose and value. As we celebrate this remarkable milestone, we are reminded that the PTA’s legacy lies not only in the facilities they help build but also in the lives they touch and the future they help shape.
